Wither the NHS?
Very little political benefit is coming from an overweight health service in Britain or from psychiatry in Northern Ireland. The diagnosis of cancer, diabetes, adrenal illness and head injury is coming much too late to save lives...
Poison pens in the media, maladroit politicians and television and radio reporters are not cognisant that more expenditure on a health system with diminishing imputs is a waste of money. Mischief-makers in medicine are clearly involved in defeating the ends of justice and undermining the legal process. That occurs when their diagnoses are challenged as delusional and libellous and a great disservice to the public interest. The public aim is in securing proper outcomes from the health system.
It is not in any sense a public service. The evidence of falling standards in public medicine is overwhelming. Note that life expectancy for women has fallen from 83 to 80 and from 78 to 76 for men (Daily Mirror).
We conclude that to some extent the health service is not fit for purpose. Whatever good the NHS once did for the many has been superceded by greedy doctors love of luxury cars, social influence and political power..
