Psychoactive medications
Long habituated to psychotropic medication, people find withdrawal and adjustment difficult. I think that psychoactive medication pulls a patina or cover over "severe depression" and "trauma". The underlying problem or problems must resolve themselves quietly and unobtrusively before withdrawal of this artificial relief. Medication? Like law,"a shield,not a sword" (with an apology to John Stannard,Tutor in Criminal Law,Q.U.B.,1980-81). As he repeated, after the old legal canard,"... until Reason regains its throne.."
